HELP US HELP HAITI’S EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
The devastating effects of the 7.0 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 have changed the landscape of a nation as well as the lives of many. Our hearts and prayers go out to the many clients, and staff members, that we serve.
Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc., MDEI, is a local 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to provide professional and culturally competent programs and services that empower Caribbean and minority individuals and families. Since its inception in 1996, MDEI has provided social services to Haitians, Caribbean and other minority individuals in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. During the past fiscal year, the agency served more than 11,000 clients, utilizing 93% of every dollar on direct services to clients.
At this time, MDEI is requesting cash donations for the Haiti Relief Fund. We are taking a two-pronged approach to make a difference in the lives of those who reside here and in Haiti. Funds collected will assist our clients with dependent children and family members still residing in Haiti and provide emergency relief to our clients’ family members who are directly affected by the earthquake.
