Welcome to Minority Development & Empowerment Inc.’s Website

When I moved to Broward County in 1995, it did not take long for me to realize that there was a major gap in access to human and social services, particularly within the Caribbean immigrant population. Although service providers were eager to tap into the diverse segments of the community, it was a major challenge for them to serve the immigrant population from a cultural standpoint. Thus, in 1996, with the support of our first funding partner, we began to provide outreach – HIV/AIDS education to the community. Thirteen years later, our base of supporters has grown to more than 14 funding agencies, churches, schools, and community organizations. We currently have a budget of $ 3 million dollars and 22 programs; nevertheless, with the existing economic climate, more and more families are turning to us. There is no question, we see there is much more to be done.

As you navigate our website, I personally invite you to think of ways you can get involved with our organization. Perhaps you have a talent that can benefit our agency and clients…you can make a financial contribution to empower those that we serve. We welcome your involvement and know that you will be proud to know that you are helping to empower an underserved child, individual or family.

Thank You!
